BUT BEFORE TO CONSULT
OUR CATALOG, LISTEN THIS BEAUTIFULL STORY.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN MADAGASCAR...
Once upon a time,
in the 50's, a mineral dealer, who also happened a friend,
bought from a prospector a few samples of exceptionnal
Orbicular Jasper. Unfortunately, the prospector could not recall
the exact location of the site where the jasper was found.
After a few
confusing reports, t was finally conclued that the site could be
located along the Northwest coast of Madagascar, in a zone
approximately 120 miles long, but the spot was a very rugged
sheer coastline, extremely hard to reach along surging seashore
strewn with reefs.
In 1997, the
Mineralogical Encyclopaedia (GRUND Publisher) reproduced a
picture of this mythical Orbicular Jaspe, but with a unknown
caption. From this time on, collectors of rare species of
minerals have been dreaming of this fabulous Jasper from
Madagascar.
A MIRACLE HAS HAPPENED - THE JASPER EXISTS - WE FOUND IT!
After a first fruitless expedition, we search again. Following a
mission of 45 days, including 20 days of navigation,
methodically following the coast, stopping in each fishing
village, we finally discovered the famous site :
ALONG THE
SEASHORE, A GROUP OF ROCKS SPREAD
OVER 50 X 30 YARDS, ONLY VISIBLE AT LOW TIDE... WAS WHERE IT WAS
TO BE FOUND!
After getting a
peovisory permit from the Mining services, we stocked the load
in a siling boat and took back to our workshops. After polishing
it once... what a shock... amazing, an enchanting display of
colors - never seen before. What a treat, how wonderful, each
lump different from another, green, blue, pink, red... and
always with pastel shaded nodules.
But no more comment, for the big Chill, open and admire
these few
PICTURES.
